Rates used by the calculator
The calculator uses only the ranges below. They are national references from home-improvement cost guides, not prices collected from Orlando installers. A written estimate is the only number you can rely on.

Worked example: a rental turnover
Landlords often replace worn carpet with vinyl plank between tenants. For 900 square feet with the carpet removed and no leveling, the calculator adds two lines:
| Line | Math | Range |
|---|---|---|
| LVP installed | 900 × $4 to 900 × $16 | $3,600–$14,400 |
| Carpet removal | 900 × $1 to 900 × $1.50 | $900–$1,350 |
| Planning range | Sum of the lines | $4,500–$15,750 |
What the range does not include
- Stairs. Stair work is priced per step and is not covered by a per-square-foot rate.
- Hidden damage. Subfloor replacement runs about $3–$10 per square foot when damage is found after removal (Angi, October 2026).
- Trim and baseboards, permits and sales tax. Ask each installer to list them in writing.
- Your product choice. The wide tile range reflects everything from basic ceramic to large-format porcelain and stone.
Check permits before you budget
Replacing a floor covering is often exempt from building permits in the Orlando area, but the answer depends on the city and on what else the job touches. See the permit statements by city before you sign.

Only if you choose it. Removal is added as its own line: about $1–$1.50 per square foot for carpet, $2–$7 for tile and $1.50–$3.50 for other hard floors (Angi, October 2026).
What does the calculator leave out?
